The Plymouth, N.H. Regional Senior Center will again host the Boston & Maine Railroad Historical Society. The May 21 meeting will be held in the impressive, former B&M depot in Plymouth, located at the Plymouth, N.H. Railroad Station, 8 Depot St. Plymouth, NH 03264. This was a stop for B&M/CP trains operating between No. Station and Montreal.
Jerry Kelly, Society board member and enthusiastic researcher of the famed Hoosac Tunnel, will present, "The Building of the Hoosac Tunnel" His PowerPoint show will outline construction methods and various issues related to this enormous 19th Century undertaking. A brief 1928 film showing the tunnel's electric locomotives and a trip through the bore will lead his talk. Some of Gerry's superb models of tunnel and motive power will be on display. Gerry welcomes a question and answer session following his presentation. The "Hoosac" was and still is, New England's greatest railway tunnel.
