B&MRRHS APRIL MEETING

The Boston & Maine Railroad Historical Society will hold its April 2019 meeting at Rogers Hall on Rogers St. in Lowell, Massachusetts. Jonathan Wells, a professional railroader, (locomotive engineer for Pan Am Railways), presents the story of the Worcester Nashua & Portland Railroad. This route between Worcester, Ma. and Portland, Maine, was to be the inland competition to the B&M RR. It never achieved this goal, became a division of the B&M and then was (almost) totally abandoned. The Worcester to Ayer segment still hosts daily PAR trains and the Ayer -Hollis, N.H. portion serves as an excellent rail-trail.

Jon is curator and a director of the Sandown, N.H. Historical Society which has been tasked by the state of N.H. to commemorate the WN&P. Using a MACPAGES program with digital presentation, Jon will combine the railroad’s history with numerous pictures of various scenes including wrecks. The meeting begins at 3:00PM and concludes around 4:30PM, possibly later. Free parking across the street. Our sale table offers B&M marked outer wear as well as rail themed books, DVDs and models.

For storm related cancellations; call the society’s hot line at 978-454-3600 after 11:00AM or visit at www.bmrrhs.org
