Archbar trucks replace wood beam as US standard

This is a "placeholder" for the full description page.

On pp437-431 of "JH White - Freight", John White discusses the last known applications of (new) wood frame trucks.

While earlier partially/completely metal trucks were patented (and may have even existed), the "new standard" freight truck was the "Diamond" arch bar that came into existiance in the 1860s ("JH White - Freight", p443, first known drawings from 1857 - p446), and dominated the market by 1870 (p446)
Initially wood was used for the truck bolster and spring plank, all-metal construction finally replaced this in the late 1890s (p445)
