ORER Notes
Discussion, General Notes
3/1901 note: 6074-6173 still exist, but are now labeled "Coke, 34', 60000 lbs capacity"
I don't know if the old cars in this range were retired and these are new cars that replace them, or if the existing
6074-6173 series cars were just re-purposed (and the numbers remained the same). Note the long length (34') &
capacity would SUGGEST the coke cars are new cars, but I don't know.
In any case, as they are described differently, I am treating them as a separate series of cars (see the "Renumbering" section below)
Also, per Tim Gilbert, the B&M started buying Pratt Patent
"flat bottom coal cars" with the #6260-6799 series (540 cars) in 1899, with further purchases of the Pratt Patent cars in serveral
series #6800-7480 in 1901-1902. These are NOT listed separately in the ORERs until 1903, so they are combined here.
Note: Tim referred to these as "Pratt Pattern" (the ORERs always used the ambiguous "Pat.").
But in the B&M Acquisition books, they clearly state "Patent", so I am using that wording
Note also the B&MRRHS reprint of the 1900-1907 B&M freight car lettering books also clearly show "Patent" on the diagram
From Eric Neubauer Laconia data, the following cars were built by Laconia:
B&MRRHS 1900-1907 Freight Car Lettering Book No. 1 (Reprint of B&M lettering diagrams)
Note the "Book page number" below refers to the page number in the B&MRRHS book.
As the B&MRRHS book's pages are NOT numbered, "1" is the first page with an actual diagram! (NOT the title pages or index pages)
"U" = upper diagram on that page, "L" = lower diagram
The "Diagram number" refers to the circled number (lower right corner) in each diagram (the original page number)
