The Boston & Maine Railroad Historical Society begins the new year with a timely program by Dave Saums entitled B&M, (and other roads), SNOW TRAINS. Dave is a vigorous railroad historian, author and photographer who has focused on the rise (and fall) of once popular winter trains in the New England region. Our B&M started it all with its January 1931 trip to Werner, New Hampshire. Other roads followed: NYNH&H, C.V., NYC/B&A. Trains ran in all kinds of weather to numerous locales in New England and adjacent New York state. and with a variety of motive power and consists. Dave’s presentation will, of course, be in the warm and dry Rogers Hall on Rogers St. in Lowell, Ma. The society’s sales table offers B&M labelled hats, shirts and outer wear along with rail themed books, maps, DVDs and models. Q & A after the program. Free parking across the street.
For storm cancellation due inclement weather go to bmrrhs.org or call the society phone at 978-454-3600-after 11:00AM day of the meeting.
